I came off the pill 5 months ago and we have been trying since then but no luck. How long did it take your or your partner to fall pregnant after coming off of the contraceptive pill? I feel heartbroken every time my period comes and I feel like im letting him down. Even though I know it could take a while and the problem could be either of us I cant help thinking its my body stopping it from happening. I guess its hard as doctors will not test us until we have been trying for at least a year.how long did it take anyone else? I was on the microgynon pill for 6 years if that makes a difference. Does anyone have any tips to maximise our chances of conception?Thank you so much, I guess im just looking for help and reassurance to put my mind at ease

It is important for you to figure out ASAP if you are actually ovulating or not. Also, 50% of the time a fertility issue is with the man. (Sperm count and motility). He should get this checked out--much less invasive to do a fertility assessment for guys than it is for girls!!PS. Technically, doctors don't consider it a problem unless you've been trying for a year. But I think you are right to take this initiative sooner rather than later.

If you were on the pill for 6 years then the effect could still be in your body for quite some time. The longer you've used a hormonal contraceptive, the longer it takes before it leaves the body completely.
However, you should try for a year. If you are not pregnant after a year, then see you doctor. Getting pregnant actually isn't as easy as the teenagers make it seem.

You doctor is right a full 12 months before they will even test you. What you CAN do is get yourself an ovulation kit and time your cycle so you DO go at it when the timing is right.
Just relax.
(I know that is hard, but the more you stress the harder it is ).
