I've been doing research about vitamins I can take such as fish oil, vitamin E, flaxseed oil,and biotin. Not only are they good for skin, but they do other many good things as well.My question is, what are some things I can do to become fit? I mean I know I need to workout and stuff, but what vitamins do you recommend? Any good skin tips (products, what/not to do? Any good recipes? What works for you? Also, I've been wanting to try smoothies, are they good for you? What are some good recipes? Reply to this Question Share |

no sorry, tanning is a definite no-no. get a spray tan or fake tan lotion. it is the number one cause of skin ageing, so although you will look nice and brown when you are young your skin will definitely pay the price when you are older - as well as running the HIGH risk of getting lethal skin cancer. lots of day time moisturisers now have sun protection incorporated. look for ones that have 'SPF15' on the bottle

It does not matter how much moisturiser you put on after tanning. Tanning results in changes inside your skin and can eventually lead to cancer. That occurs during the tanning. Plus tanning causes you skin to go leathery and prematurely ages you.
You can easily see by 40 who has been tanning in earlier years and who has protected their skin from sun damage.
The tanning industry is a huge money making enterprise that claims to care, but those tanning salons will not be there in twenty years to hold the hands of the people then suffering terminal skin cancer.
At the very least if you Must tan use the highest level UV protection on every exposed area of skin. This will not stop you getting a tan, but may help prevent the most harmful rays getting through.

watshername23 is verified as being by the original poster of the questionHi. Thank you for the answers, but I have a question for angelDlite ( Or anybody that can answer): Its funny that you mentioned to avoid suntanning, b/c one of my other goals for summer was to get a nice tan. I know its bad for you and I have to admit I dont use the best sunscreen (ok, I just use tanning oil, bad I know), and I know it can make you all leathery. But after I tan I go home and moisturize my whole body with cocoa butter, b/c I know you have to be moisturized. Do think using cocoa butter after I tan will help any so that one day I wont get all leathery? Also I read that you should use a broad spectrum sunscreen, any examples for any? Sorry for all the questions, but I would appreciate it for people to answer. Thank you.

Good advice from the first poster, so I will not add a repeat of that very good advice (since I concur completely with that post)
So instead I will add in the following:
1. Develop a sense of calm. Practise relaxation techniques. The best way to feel at peace with the world is to take time out each day to meditate on the positive occurences that day.
2. Think well of people, where they deserve it, and smile - frowning every day eventually brings you ageing frown lines.
3. Healthy foods are often dark coloured or purple. Like Blueberries, bright green avocado and asparagus, bright orange apricots and pumpkins, bright red bell pepper (capsicum)
4. Learn to love nuts - especially walnuts and almonds.
5. Mix up your exercise so you use more muscles - swimming, weights, circuit, walking, cycling.
6. Fish oil - indispensible daily. Plus eat oily fish whenever you can.
7. Many people think they eat well, but fail to get enough calcium and Vit D - especially if they stay inside too much.
Never skimp calcium rich foods - skim milk power has more calcium than fresh milk. Failure to have enough calcium leads to a hump at the top of an older woman's back - the damage was done early - by not enough calcium.
8. Beans - all beans are enriching foods. Great salads can be made with butter beans. Baked beans on toast is a nutrient rich meal.
9.cut out sugar as much as possible - the calories are empty.
10. Get used to eating less salt. Add salt in other ways - prosciutto already has salt in it.
11. Add ginger to smoothie ingredients such as:
Into blender - cantaloupe, orange, water-melon, few strawberries, plus Plain yoghurt and a small piece of fresh ginger will have punch. Add a banana as well for more calories.
12. savoury smoothie: into blender - minced garlic, small piece fresh ginger, lemon zest, some diced pre-baked pumpkin, minced pre-sauted onion, celery, slice of bell pepper, fresh oregano, sprinkle pepper, splash of soda water, splash of tomato puree, drip of tabasco (men's pick-me-up after a night out)
Good on you for wanting to go for healthy!.

you can do lots of reasearch on the internet for good ingredients to put into smoothies and good foods to eat. eat raw fruit and veg whereever possible as the cooking process dimininishes some of their vitamins. take a multivitamin capsule every day (these will contain vit E (the best for skin and hair) so you will not need an additional capsule for this. very important- aim to drink 2 litres of water per day - water in your food and beverages will contribute to your total water intake daily.
get exercise (30 mins per day is enough, even brisk walking outdoors if you do not like the gym, swimming is a good all round toner too)
gentle skin care products are the best for your face, learn facial massage techniques (google) never sleep in make up, and try to wear is as seldom as possible. avoid sun tanning, wear a moisturiser with sun screen when you go out side.
avoid over processed foods, eat as naturally as you can and make sure you get enough sleep, avoid late nights, there is a reason its called 'beauty sleep' at night is when your skin and other other cells repair themselves. and never ever start drinking to excess when you get older or smoking!
