The view/belief that if you hymen breaks then you are no longer a virgin is wayyy out dated and not correct.
These days, people recognise that your hymen can be broken from numerous things, not just sex, such as masturbation (which is what your bf did when fingering you), using a tampon and even playing some sports.
So although your hymen is broken, it does not mean you are no longer a virgin. Dont worry, you are still a virgin.
And yes the bleeding would of been due to the hymen breaking. Hope this has helped :)

If it hurt and you bled, he may well have broken your hymen, but a broken hymen does not necessarily mean you aren't a virgin - you can break your hymen through exercize or using tampons.
Everyone has different definitions of what constitutes virginity. Fingering counts as sexual activity, but you can't really lose your virginity through it. Generally, virginity is lost when the penis enters the vagina, and most other things are just foreplay.
Hope this has cleared things up.
