A female United States age 30-35, *e' writes:

I had a talk with my boyfriend and he has told just how he has been doing some thinking lately about everything, and he figure the struggle he goes through he doesn't even have to go through it,he let it happen to him.

I told him how much i missed him not around and my love has grown more for him because of that. He told me that it seems every time he is not around me he messes up everything and he can't be himself, he F-up things.

I've been trying to figure what that mean and the only thing that pops up in my head is that i am his muse. What do you think please? ?

ArmyMedic agony auntHis muse? Wow, how very self-obsessed, sounds like your boy is having a hard time and you are day dreaming about him writing poetry and playing a lute under a tree!

It sounds to me like you two are apart at the moment, that he is sad because he's missing you and is feeling a bit down.

You can use his sadness to make your relationship seem more special and give yourself a self esteem boost if you want.

Or you could be a good girlfriend, try and cheer him up, make him laugh, tell him he is not useless and messing things up and that soon you will be together and everything will be well.

Good Luck!! xx

A female reader, anonymous, writes (19 April 2009):

No offense but why on earth was that the first thing that popped into your head?

I'm not sure you actually even know what the real meaning of a muse is, but just because he wants to be around you, it doesn't mean that you have some magical power over him.

It's quite impossible to tell what's going on from your question, it's very vague. It seems very strange (and a little vain to be honest) that you would assume that you are so inspirational to him that he can't even live without you.

I mean, he could be messing up for thousands of different reasons. I really doubt he misses you so much that he cannot function. And, you know, you wont be the first girl in the history of the world to be sweet-talked and told you are the apple of somebody's eye.

I wouldn't think about this too much. If you guys both want to be with each other, then go ahead. Keep in mind though that it's not really a balanced relationship if you have this idea that are saving him all the time, is it?
