It's MAY!

Tisha-1Tisha-1, posted over a year ago

Birdy, gang, here's what I've been singing all morning:

Tra la! It's May!

The lusty month of May!

That lovely month when ev'ryone goes

Blissfully astray.

Tra la! It's here!

That shocking time of year

When tons of wicked little thoughts

Merrily appear!

It's May! It's May!

That gorgeous holiday

When ev'ry maiden prays that her lad

Will be a cad!

It's mad! It's gay!

A libelous display!

Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,

Ev'ryone breaks.

Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes

The lusty month of May!

Tra la! It's May!

The lusty month of May!

That darling month when ev'ryone throws

Self-control away.

It's time to do

A wretched thing or two,

And try to make each precious day

One you'll always rue!

It's May! It's May!

The month of "yes you may,"

The time for ev'ry frivolous whim,

Proper or "im."

It's wild! It's gay!

A blot in ev'ry way.

The birds and bees with all of their vast

Amorous past

Gaze at the human race aghast,

The lusty month of May.

Tra la! It's May!

The lusty month of May!

That lovely month when ev'ryone goes

Blissfully astray.

Tra la! It's here!

That shocking time of year

When tons of wicked little thoughts

Merrily appear.

It's May! It's May!

The month of great dismay.

When all the world is brimming with fun,

Wholesome or "un."

It's mad! It's gay!

A libelous display!

Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,

Ev'ryone breaks.

Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes

The lusty month of May!

When daisies pied, and violets blue,

And lady-smocks all silver-white,

And cuckoo-buds of yellow hue

Do paint the meadows with delight,

The cuckoo then, on every tree,

Mocks married men, for thus sings he:

“Cuckoo!

Cuckoo, cuckoo!” O word of fear,

Unpleasing to a married ear.

When shepherds pipe on oaten straws,

And merry larks are ploughmen’s clocks,

When turtles tread, and rooks, and daws,

And maidens bleach their summer smocks,

The cuckoo then, on every tree,

Mocks married men, for thus sings he:

“Cuckoo!

Cuckoo, cuckoo!” O word of fear,

Unpleasing to a married ear.

(William Shakespeare - Love's Labours Lost. It sounds to me like he could have done with an Auntie or two...)

Hurray, Hurray!

The First of May!

Outdoor *insert activity here*

Begins Today!

Where has that husband of mine gotten to...

Hiding is my guess!

Other than desiring copious amounts of sex and noticing that all men's neck vertebrae are being replaced by a ball and socket joint, This time of year just gives me a general feeling of Wanderlust. I would love to hop into my car and just hit the open road with no set destination. Oh, and dye my hair, this time of year ALWAYS makes me want to dye my hair a new colour! Anyone else have these same weird proclivities? (stupid computer correcting my Canadian spelling of color again...)
