Back....but for good?

JustMexJustMex, posted over a year ago

I'm not really sure why I'm writing this, I just feel like now is a good time to come 'out' on DC. Some people might remember me, I used to be called 'HereToHelpx' but basically I did a pretty stupid thing, and left the site. I made this account ages ago now and wanted to stay anonymous....up until now. I haven't been a regular poster since last year and I would like to come back and help out again once more....but I feel like I've lost my mojo. I mean, I still give advice when and if the need arises IRL, and on here I know what I want to say, I just can't put it down in writing anymore. Is that weird? This is basically just a rant, and I hope to be able to contribute to this site properly again once more.

I'm sure if you genuinely want to help people, your mojo will be back soon! WB, JustMe.

The feeling comes and goes, don't you think? Some days you're full of advice, and there are questions that you really feel you can help with. And then you hit dry spells, where none of the questions appeal to you (or worse). It's not a problem -- it's not like your account on DC expires if you don't pipe up from time to time.

From my experience it goes in fits and starts, and does for other aunts as well. Oh, there are a few who always have something spot-on to say, but they're the exception. Most of us have times when the site is something good for us, and times when it's more of a burden. For the latter, staying quiet is no-harm, no-foul.

I always liked your input as HereToHelpx, and have no doubt that you have lots to contribute when you're in the mood. Personally I think we contribute best when we accept that there are times when we just want to be wallflowers.

Best wishes.

It happens to me too. Sometimes I find answers just sort of "flow" out of me with ease. Whether they are helpful to the OP or not, I still feel happy with the advice I have given, and know I have done the best I can.

But at other times, I look through the questions and none of them "jump out" at me. I try to read some and get the general feel of them, and I just can't! It's as if my mind has just gone blank.

I usually find that happens if I am not feeling too good, or if there are problems I am dealing with. When that happens, I cannot give advice. Sometimes it is for a few days, sometimes months. But as has already been said, nothing terrible will happen if you are unable to give advice for a while. The site will still be here, and there will always be people who are in need of advice.

So no beating yourself up, okay?! :-D

Thanks you three :)

I think/hope that's what it is, and I have been busy lately so I should probably only come on to answer when I'm chilled and have the time to do so!

Well I will be sticking around from now on and hopefully you'll see me back to answering questions :)

Just Mex. Are you always lurking about and reluctant to post? Or do you go away and return later?

No, I've only been on briefly, haven't had enough time to sit down and take the time to answer. This post was the first time I've logged on in about....3 months.

JustMex: I know the feeling. I've been pretty much entirely absent since April. I just didn't feel like it, didn't have any answers, was working through my own drama, etc. I'm trying to get back into things, but I'm just glad that I still see the same friendly faces and my account hasn't gone anywhere.

Q: Happy birthday!

No dates, they'll just want their share of cake. And I know Vintage makes a most excellent cake... maybe we could do cupcakes and then we won't have to worry about joints or cale or anything like that....

Extra frosting/icing on the cupcakes for everyone! My treat!
