Site update (mods, please read)

DearCupidDearCupid, posted over a year ago

Hi everyone

I've pushed a new version of the site live. On the public site there are these new features:

* Items on home page etc. show M or F to show that the question asker is male or female

* Items on home page that are newer than a day old now show how many hours/minutes old the question is (since published)

* Your column page shows male/female

* Your column page shows your friends (right hand side)

* Your column page formatting tidied up a little

MODERATORS

I've made a whole bunch of changes to the moderation side. There should be no noticable changes but it does mean the moderation side is more secure... e.g. questions/answers older than a certain period are locked against further editing.

If anyone notices any problems, has comments please post here.

Andrew

PS. Next update, within a week or so, will allow people to subscribe to questions and be alerted of new answers via email, rss. Also you'll be able to get private mail alerts via email... and maybe a couple of other goodies.

Just one small problem: Where is my question which I posted (and got one reply for, posted about 1-2 weeks ago? It's not in my account, and I really would like the opportunity to respond to the reply which I received..

Also, my in-box remains empty...could this mean that my question is no longer posted? - I really would like to have a few more views on it if at all possible

Did you post it annoynmously ? When you say your inbox is empty, did you maybe delete it by accident ? My in box has got zillions of stuff in it that I must get round to deleting lol.. but they are from a couple of months back, so i dont see why It would just disappear. I know Andrew was having a few probs with mail the other day, so might be worth dropping him a line see if he can help. Maybe though on your column page If you go to my column, my questions it should be there.. If not if you can remember roughly when you posted it you can search the archives. I dont recall seeing your question, so maybe it was posted anon.

Hi Snowbird

You must have asked the question when you weren't logged in... There is no record of you having asked a question.

Questions asked anonymously still show up under "your questions" when you're logged in (using the yellow account bar at the top of the screen).

The inbox is just for private messages, replies to your questions don't show up there (although I guess they could do -- might be worth me setting something up to that effect).

HTH

Andrew

Hi, Cupid, thanks for the prompt reply. It can't be that, can it, as I received a reply...

If you can find the original question I can help further... Have a search with the search facility on the site or browse the relevant dates
