I just broke up with my girlfriend (and we still talk); I think there is a natural "unwinding process" 1) because it is unwinding or 2) because he (or in my case she) is still unsure about what is happening.
We think of love (and yes it is love), but is the "attachment" that is the hardest part to a breakup...
Was it a mutual breakup or more your idea - or his? If it was your idea, be careful not to lead him on if you don't want to be with him that way anymore. If it was his idea and you still want to be with him, I would just stay strong and be friendly and bail out of there if it becomes overwhelming :) Good luck
