Why are some q's blocked to new answers?

Occasionally I'll see the message "New answers are blocked to this question." Why are some questions blocked to new answers?

Sometimes the original poster (OP) requests not to receive any more messages on the post. Sometimes evidence presents to the moderators that there is another issue regarding the OP that can't be posted per guidelines.

Sometimes the OP turns out to be a troll and the question is closed before it can be removed. Sometimes the question is just so old that is has been closed.

And sometimes threads get closed because they get "hi-jacked". Someone gives the OP a contentious answer and all the other aunties start arguing with them rather than answering the OP's initial question.

But it seems to me that it usually happens when it's a troll or when the OP doesn't really want advice -they just want to be validated and have people tell them that they're right. Then they become upset or argumentative when they don't receive this validation.
