I don't "need" you. I "want" you.

Is it possible to be in love with a woman without coming across as a needy person? How do you define the line between "need" and "want" in a relationship?

I love being with her and I love holding her in my arms, but she feels too needed when I express my love for her through effection. She has a 3yr old daughter who lives with her 100% of the time. I can understand the feeling of being needed too much, but I want her to realize that was fine before I met her. It's not a matter of need. It's the fact that I want to be with her a lot. Not all the time, just a lot. Is that asking too much?
